Based on the three types of the energy that belongs to neurosis, Anton Medan is in the type of conqueror. Anton Medan had a blatant type of conqueror. It was proved by his crime, when he took a wood and hit it to the head of a bus driver that brought the death of the bus driver. In addition, he hit a hoodlum using a big knife for cutting ice so he was died.

Next, Adler mentioned some physiological theories, namely:

Inferiority feeling. He was inferiority. In his teenage life, he had been motivated to make his family happy by being a bus calo (passenger recruiter for public vehicles), etc. As he grew, he became a little criminal, such as penjambret (someone who snatches purses, jewelry, etc.), thief, and narcotic distributor. He did all those crime because he had a new motivation. This motivation emerged because there was no one who helped him to get a better life. Therefore, he tried to find another job, though it was a crime.

Societal intention. He wanted to prove to the society that the ex-prisoner or those who once involved in crime did not always have a “black life” forever. He proved it by changing his attitude, way of thinking and his behavior to be better so that society would accept him. He wanted to dedicate himself for society. To prove that he wanted to be a better person, he followed Islam and was guided by KH. Zainuddin M.Z.

Creative self findings. His experiences going in and out from prisons made him to be a creative person. All experiences made him to correct his mistakes and became a better person.

The case analysis of Anton Medan according the theory Jung

Jung’s theory consists of the different systems; however, those systems are related one each other, namely:

Ego. In this case, Anton Medan was not able in balancing his ego. If he was not able in balancing the outside requirements, the unconscious drive inside himself, and the collective drive inside himself, probably he was suffered of neurosis.

Unconscious self. When he was 12 years old, he was arrested because he had hit a wood to the head of the bus driver. He told that he did it because he was not conscious. Probably, he did it because he had experienced a hard life in streets and was driven by his anger. The similar case was found when he hit the hoodlum using a big knife.

Collective unconscious. His crime probably was underlied by a collective unconscious. This unconsciousness was inherited from the prevous generations. That experience of a certain individual would easily stimulate it to come up. For example, they had an idea about “Who is strong, he will win” that was inherited from one generation to the next generation. That idea was what he had so he did the crime. In addition, his action was probably related to his tribe. He came from Batak in Medan in which Batakese are well-known because of their hard characteristics.

Persona. When he was a gambler, he lost trillion rupiah. It made him aware. He started to live economically. He dedicated his life for society. To prove that he wanted to be a better person, he followed Islam and was guided by KH. Zainuddin M.Z. he changed his name became Muhammad Ramdhan Effendi. He did all because he wanted to be someone who was ideal in society’s opinion.

Self. He just wanted to make his parent happy. However, a lot of barriers distracted him to make his dream come to be true. He was not able solving his problems calmly. Consequently, his problems were worse, so he was more difficult in reaching his ideal.

Shadow. When he was out of prison, he hoped that his family would accept him. In contrast, his mother rejected him. Therefore, he went to Jakarta to find his uncle. Unfortunately, his uncle did not accept him either. He thought that there was no way out to improve his future because there was no one who helped him to do it. Finally, he became a crime, chief, and gambler.

Individualization. After doing a lot of crimes, he found out illumination and followed Islam. He chose it because he found a peace in it. Then, he was in a creative stage which tried to find something ideal, and the missing feeling to be a better person.

The case analysis of Anton Medan according the theory of Sullivan

Sullivan suggested several important processes in structuring behavior, namely:

Dynamism. The example of this behavior was his envy that was implied in his hostility with another person. In the case of Anton Medan, he felt envy to the bus driver who did not give him salary.

Self system. When the bus driver did not pay his salary, he felt worried that he would not be able to fulfill his family’s need.

Personification. People considered that once a person involved in the crime world, he would not be able to run away from it forever. Anton Medan was able in proving that the statement was not true. In contrast, he nowadays becomes an ideal person in society.
